San Angelo Letter #6 - TRANSFERS!

Hi everyone!!!!! This week has been awesome! We are emailing a little earlier because Elder Berta needs more time to pack. :) Surprise! Elder Berta is getting transferred which I am sad about because we became really good friends and we did a lot of good work. This week was the usual. We had a good week. We taught and found a lot of referrals for the English Elders again, which was fun. There was a huge downpour on Saturday.  We helped take down a big art event.  It took forever but was a lot of fun. We then had a branch activity Saturday evening that we put on. Only about ten people showed up, which was sad, but it was a lot of fun. Tuesday we had sports night. We have it every Tuesday. It is put on by the YSA, but we use it to get LA youth from all over San Angelo out and to come to church. The other days were pretty routine. We spent a lot of time prepping for the branch activity. We did a huge bingo night!! It was fun. We had to bake cookies and make boards and run it all.
Now, are you ready for my transfer doctrine....... I'M A TRAINER!!!!!!!! I"m getting a brand new missionary straight out of the MTC by the name of Jarod Jones. I'll show you our spot on the roster in an attachment. PS... blue means Spanish, red means in training, and the tr means trainer. It is super both nerve racking but also a lot of fun! I'm super excited and it will help me as a missionary. Hopefully this greenie is ready to work, because we are going to hit the streets and we are going to get investigators!! Good news is though, this last transfer Elder Berta and I reactivated four LA families, which is awesome. We still don't have any investigators but we did a lot of awesome LA work and I was definitely sent here to work with Elder Berta which has been a lot of fun! I'm glad I did the work I needed to and now I'm training!  It's so scary and yet I am so pumped!!! Got any advice for me?!  Hope everything at home is great! I love you guys and you guys are the best!!

San Angelo Letter #5 - HELLO!!!

Hello family!!!!!
This week has been lots of fun!! Not too much has changed but I think that is what makes it fun.  I get to work my
hardest everyday and get to see the seeds get planted!!! Sorry I didn't get to email yesterday due to Labor Day, but it's all good! This last week has been a lot of trying to stop by former investigators, which has been a lot of fun. We have a big binder of former investigators since 2008. We have tried going by a ton of houses and it has been awesome, but a ton of them have moved. We did get two return appointments set with 2 different people which is awesome!!  We got our car back! Yeah! This Saturday is transfer calls which is crazy, because this transfer has just flown by!! It is nuts!!!  We have given a ton of blessings the last couple of days! We had a fun experience where a random car drove up and wanted us to pray for this girl who was just in a terrible physical state. I don't know why, but we started praying and the spirit prompted to give her a blessing.  I followed the prompting and later Elder Berta was said he had the same prompting.  It was fun. Hopefully everything went well. This week was good.  We are still going strong!   I love you and hope you have a good rest of the day!!!!

The song - I'm A Ding Dong Daddy From Dumas

Here is the song Elder Wilson mentioned in his letter.  It was written by Phil Baxter and recorded by various artists.  We couldn't help but smile and giggle a little as we listened to it! :-)

"I'm a Ding-Dong Daddy from Dumas!"

Hello family!
This week in Dumas was awesome!!! I love it here in Dumas!! This area has so much potential! I have used my Spanish here more than I did in Abilene! Since the zone is so big they don't have a straight panhandle Spanish companionship. All the companionships have someone who speaks Spanish. Dumas is small, but it is awesome. Everything is close and we don't use a lot of miles which is nice. Sorry I didn't email sooner. It was Presidents Day and then yesterday we had district meeting and then exchanges, so I went to Perryton  (our DL area). So, yeah I just got back from Perryton. Those elders are sweet.
Man, I love my new companion Elder Hawes so much!!! He is from Idaho and he has been out about two transfers longer than I have. He is an English Elder. He is funny, patient (important especially to have a crazy guy like me with him) and definitely a huge spiritual giant. The branch here is small, but really awesome Saints. They are definitely members of Zion! We go to Seminary a ton. We meet at the Rodriguez's house and help Sister Rodriguez so that is fun. A lot of the youth think I'm funny which is good. We got to visit a lot of people this last week. It was fun. I don't know everyone yet, so this week's goal is to meet and know everyone! We taught a sweet FHE lesson this last week for the branch. We took ten Scripture mastery scriptures from the Book of Mormon and we had a game were you had to guess it off of memory.  Then, after a certain amount of time you could look for it, then after we had a little basket ball and you shot it and earned points based on the distance you were away (which we had that set up before). We played something like this in Seminary.  It was tons of fun. The members got really into it and they learned a lot of scriptures! Haha! It was cool. So, if you every need a fun lesson in a small town in the panhandle of Texa,s there you go!!!
It's awesome to hear everyone is doing well!
The reading for this week is 2 Nephi 11-25. They are shorter ones so hopefully its easier! Yeah, I've been following the schedule in that book with those study help guides.
So the "Ding Dong Daddy from Dumas" is a song that a guy wrote after living here and i guess it was really popular so that,s like the town,s theme song. The high school mascot is the Demons. So, yes, I am among the Demons!  Hahaha just kidding! They are awesome people here. Well, I won't take up too much time because we have some work to do! God be with you til we meet again!!!
